When it comes to doing the best for your charity, what comes to mind?

Is it generating lots of donations, supporters and awareness about your cause?
To achieve these goals, there are a number of ‘back-end’ jobs that need to be done to produce long lasting and successful results.

This includes creating a charity BLOG on your website. We all know how vital social media is when running any type of organisation. Within this, a blog showcases your knowledge on social media and this can attract potential donors to find out more about your cause. Having a charity blog gives you the opportunity to showcase a variety of topics to your fundraisers, donors, business partners etc.

So, today I wanted to share with you some points on why a charity should have a blog.

Reasons why a charity should have a blog:

  1. A blog gives you the chance to build a community around your charity website.
  2. To build a loyal group of supporters.
  3. It helps spread awareness about your cause.
  4. Blogs can help generate traffic to your website when you use search engine optimisation (SEO) to optimize your blog posts. Answering the questions people search for online will direct people to your website, and this can increase your charity’s audience.
  5. Gives you room to manoeuvre unlike twitter/facebook .
  6. Gives you the opportunity to go in to detail about your topic of discussion.
  7. Gives you more space to promote your charity and cause.
  8. You can categorize your important topics e.g. fundraising, charity community, the cause.
  9. It gives you the chance to show your personality and what makes you passionate about your cause and charity by choosing the tone you want to use.
  10. You can post what you want, when you want and cater it around current trends, fundraisers, campaigns etc.
  11. You can communicate your blog article via your social media management tool, therefore saving you more time to write some more amazing blog articles!
  12. Lastly, you can add as many keywords and weblinks, including a CTA button on every article.
