You may have noticed that things have been changing on the site lately – with fundraising back and working so well for all of you, we would love to give you a ‘how to’ update!
You can use online fundraising platform Givey for fundraising in aid of causes of whatever you care about – whether you want to raise awareness for a particular cause, contribute to the refurbishment of a community building or share an inspiring story, the causes you support will receive 100% of each donation.
If you are looking to register a charity or project yourself, head to www.givey.com/project, however keep reading for updates on how to fundraise.
We have always raised funds a little differently here, so you can post a photo, video, blog, or even a song, to represent what you’re raising money for. ‘Post‘ your web links from any of our integrated websites such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Vimeo and your page is created! Add a suitable title, donate £1 (or more), and start sharing your page to inspire real change. We’ll show the total raised from each link you share on Givey!
If you want to make a fundraiser though, you can create your own page, including a totaliser and lots of content by visiting the Fundraiser page or visiting here for further information and tips.
Looking to see how users have been getting on with it so far? No problem! Some of our fundraisers have already achieved over 100% of their goal, but the great thing is you can still donate to them, just like Steve!
Inspired to raise funds for Bottisham Primary School, Steven is running the Cambridge Half Marathon and has almost reached the 80% mark of his fundraising target!
Steven expresses his feelings about his fundraising campaign. He says –
“I’ve decided to raise money for Bottisham Primary school to help them afford new technology resources, to be used by the children in their classrooms.
Both Isabella and Jacob attend the school and it won’t be long before Joseph joins them, so the school is an important part of family and community life.
Given my job I’m very passionate about technology and some of you may know I ran a coding class at the school last year. I hope to do the same this year for more of the children.
I feel having new resources that will help support the children to learn, is a very worthwhile cause and so I will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon at the end of February, with the aim of raising at least £500, which will hopefully be generously matched by my employer EY. Whilst I completed it last year this will only be the second half marathon I’ve competed in, so please make the training and inevitable pain worthwhile.”
